Hello, birders!

Wow, what a difference 24 hours makes. The water between Peche Island and
Windsor today looks nothing like it has this
past week. The numbers of waterfowl have dropped to about 1/10 of what they
were, if not less.

Today at noon there were more Tundra Swans (30 or more) but no Canvasback that
I could see. Red-breasted, Common and
Hooded Mergansers remain in the same proportions, just way fewer. I noticed a
couple more Common Goldeneye than before.

The highlight of my excursion was an American Coot which swam up into the
protected waters of Windsor Yacht Club. Since
this is private property, I didn't pursue it.

I also failed to mention in my previous post that an adult Bald Eagle can often
be seen over and around Peche Island.

Good birding!

Lakeview Park Marina is at the foot of Riverdale Ave where it ends at 9200
Riverside Drive East in Windsor, just 10 km
east of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Follow Riverside Drive until you see the
66-foot tall white and red lighthouse on
the corner. The marina is on the left.

>From the 401, take Manning Road/County Road 19, exit number 21. Turn right
>(north) on Manning Road/County Road 19 to
Riverside Drive, approximately 9.5 km. Turn left (west) on Riverside Drive and
go approximately 5 km. until you see
the old Pelee Passage lighthouse. Turn right into the marina.
