Hello, Today's scan of Lakeview Park Marina and waters between there and Peche Island late this morning turned up MUTE and TUNDRA SWANS, 20 or so GREAT BLUE HERONS, several COMMON GOLDENEYE, scores of COMMON MERGANSER, a pair of BUFFLEHEAD, a few CANVASBACK, and a GREEN-WINGED TEAL drake. His mate may have been in there somewhere, but he was easier to pick out of the mix. The teal is favouring the middle waters about halfway between Peche Island and the marina.
A relatively large group of GREAT BLUE HERONS has been hanging out on Peche Island for about a week. At one point I counted around 30 settling in to roost for the night. Kelly Morrissey, Windsor [email protected] Lakeview Park Marina is at the foot of Riverdale Ave where it ends at 9200 Riverside Drive East in Windsor, just 10 km east of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Follow Riverside Drive until you see the 66-foot tall white and red lighthouse on the corner. The marina is on the left. >From the 401, take Manning Road/County Road 19, exit number 21. Turn right >(north) on Manning Road/County Road 19 to Riverside Drive, approximately 9.5 km. Turn left (west) on Riverside Drive and go approximately 5 km. until you see the old Pelee Passage lighthouse. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
