Yesterday, Friday 17 February, I saw the exquisite and very active hybrid
Common Goldeneye x Hooded Merganser in the Beach Canal from the Hamilton
side. Thanks to Barry Cherriere who pointed it out among hundreds of other
ducks. Then at LaSalle Marina in Burlington, the first winter male King
Eider was very close to shore in pursuit of its favourite female Mallard.
