Dear Ontario birders,

It appears spring is arriving early this year and Wildlife Preservation
Canada is gearing up for another exciting field season!

Please report any sightings of Eastern Loggerhead Shrikes to Wildlife
Preservation Canada. Many of the returning birds will likely be banded.
Most shrikes banded in the last couple of years will have received 4-colour
combos. Birds wearing geolocators are banded with only 2 bands, either
RED/SILVER on the LEFT (released in 2009) or SILVER on LEFT and RED on RIGHT
(released in 2010) or SILVER/RED on the LEFT (released in 2011). These birds
must be re-captured in order to remove the tag and collect the logged data -
this information will tell us where this bird has been all winter and what
route(s) it took on migration. So we are especially keen to find these
birds this season!

PLEASE report any Loggerhead Shrike sightings to Wildlife Preservation
Canada at tara at wildlifepreservation.ca, or by our toll-free number
1-800-956-6608. Please take a moment to look for bands on any shrike seen
and report these with your sighting.

Thank-you in advance.

Happy Birding!
