Hi all A Eurasian Widgeon, found yesterday afternoon East of Bourget by
Jacques Bouvier, could not be found at the end of the day, but it might still
be in the area. Jacques saw the bird on the south side of Russell Road (road No
2) about half a kilometre pass Johnson Rd, East of Bourget, before the bridge
ovet the creek. There is a small area at that spot where a couple of cars can
stop, but there is no place for many. The bird was about 30-40 metres from the
road when he saw it. If you try, you might be tempted to walk down the bank
for a closer look; it is better to stay up the bank fo a better view - if you
go down, not only you wont have a better look but the ducks will fly away. When
I visited, before darkness sat in, there where large numbers of ducks in that
area, mainly pintails, but also American Widgeons, Shovelers, and 2 Gadwalls.
An adult Lesser Blck-backed Gull and an immature Thayer's where foraging with
Ring-billed Gulls. In the background thousands of Snow Gueese and Canada
Gueese and 2 Tundra Swans. Good luck if you try. Langis Sirois PS Johnson Rd
was closed yesterday.
