A record early whimbrel appeared at the back of a seasonal wetland along Kaiser Crossroad in Prince Edward County, just in time for a Prince Edward County Field Naturalists' field trip. It was seen and heard on Friday, and heard briefly but not seen Saturday morning.
Directions: from Picton, go east on Highway 33 AKA Bridge Street/Loyalist Parkway towards the Glenora ferry. Just before the ferry (There will be a sign.) turn right on Lake on the Mountain Road/County Road 7. Continue for many miles to Kaiser Crossroad, then turn right. The bird was seen at the back of the first wetland, which is on the left. Note that this is all private property, even the farm lanes, and you should remain on the road.
