The recent cold weather seems to have slowed the arrival of early spring
migrants. There are no flooded areas on Milton Road and Frank Kenny Road.
Cobb's Creek Lake east of Bourget still has some flooded areas. The Ottawa
River and the lagoons are ice free. 19 to 20 SANDHILL CRANES are being seen
regularly on the west side of Milton Road and smaller numbers have been seen
from Smith Road. On March 25th there were 25000 to 30000 SNOW GEESE on Cobb's
Creek Lake of which about 30% were blue morph. On March 29th there were about
32000 SNOW GEESE on Dunning Road north of Colonial Road including at least one
ROSS'S GOOSE.
Some of the more interesting birds have been;
- EASTERN PHOEBE at many locations
- up to 10 RUDDY DUCKS all week at the Burnside pit on Moodie Drive

- CACKLING GEESE were seen at a number of locations
