While checking for the Eared Grebe at Long Point today, Matt Timpf,
Jeremy Hatt, and myself found a Snowy Owl sitting on a wooden post
over the water near the channel where the grebe had been seen on April
1st. The Owl was easy to spot from the waterfowl viewing platform that
overlooks the bay. The bird looked a bit stressed, with its mouth open
the whole time we watched it. It briefly landed behind some cottages
to the southeast, and then flew out of view. No sign of the Eared
Grebe.

Directions: Take HWY 59 south to Long Point, drive across the causeway
and park on the east side of the road at the waterfowl viewing
platform just before the marina.
