Birders, and Ric McArthur: Keeper of the amazing yellow- throated. How
wonderful it is at the same feeder as last year!. . .
Those rampant, tight --- scientists, please excuse my narrative.
Birds are about, magic, excitement, engagement. Inspire a new generation , and
you give a gift that goes on and on.
If i could only get a few more avid birders to settle near Port
Burwell and haunt the coast and the provincial park for the rarities that I
know are there!
I didn't share with you many of my sightings in fear that they
would become common or less spectacular. The first barn swallow, or the
Northern rough-winged. Or even the super, singing serenade of the brown
thrashers. The morning loons overhead, this years scarce waves of shore birds,
the glory of morning light, male woodducks in the pond.
All of these have passed my way. . .yet I don't ever want them to become common
or expected or taken for granted, as simply scientific data, they are much more
than that.
Like a beautiful , long, lost lover, the first Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher,
caught my eye tonight in the glorious low angled light ,(a gift to
photographers). With pishing he came to almost within my reach. There
spectacular, white-eye-ring, and gone!
They are all headed your way!Appreciate the moment we can recognize beauty.
If there is anyone out there who can help make this special place a nature
reserve in perpetuity. Please contact me. It needs to belong to everyone.
Needing help.
Great birding. Aaron
