Ontbirds subscribers,

The rains yesterday and the day before forced open the blocked outlet to the
Corbett Creek marsh which had been unnaturally high the last few weeks. The
marsh has drained down quite substantially and there is now some adequate
shorebird habitat forming there.

In the afternoon, John Foster found a male Wilson's Phalarope foraging in the
marsh immediately to the east of Thickson's Woods. When Dennis Barry and I went
to see the phalarope there was also a Greater Yellowlegs and 3 Lesser
Yellowlegs feeding near it.

To reach Thickson's Woods take exit 412 from Hwy 401 and go south 2 km
on Thickson Road S. Park at the cul-de-sac at the bottom of Thickson
Road. The road blocked to traffic just north of the cul-de-sac
(Waterfront Trail) leads east to the entrance to Thickson's Woods on the
right a few hundred metres ahead. The marsh is just east of the woods a little
further down the Waterfront Trail than the entrance to the woods on the south
side.
