Saturday May 12th 9 AM to 3 PM.
Walpole Island First Nation International Migratory Bird Day Celebration
will be held at the Walpole Island First Nation (WIFN) Community Arena.
There will be displays, speakers on birds and related environmental topics
along with Native crafts. Bird banding demonstrations by the Native
Territories Avian Research Project will be held, giving you the opportunity to
see
some of these amazing creatures up close. Learn more about the unique
habitats on WIFN.

Walpole Island is west of Wallaceburg, ON. Take Duffern Rd (Hwy 40 which
becomes Hwy 32) west out of Wallaceburg and follow the signs toward the
Walpole Island Ferry. When you cross the bridge on to Walpole Island the
Arena
is on the right.

>From the US go to Algonac, MI and then get on the Walpole Island/Algonac
Ferry. The fee is $6.00 and you will need a passport or enhanced driver's
licence for the border crossing. Turn right (south) out of customs and go
to Tecumseh Rd and turn left (east) and follow this until you see the Arena
on your left.

Note: If it is foggy in the morning US visitors may need to take the
Sombra Ferry at Marine City which is north of Algonac. You would then go
south
along the river road until it ends. Turn right (west) a short distance to
WIFN.
