*Point Pelee National Park Migration Update for: May 10, 2012*

* *

A good day weather-wise and quite birdie too. As of now about 20 species of
wood warbler have been located.

CAPE MAY, TENNESSEE, NASHVILLE and other warblers are being encountered
throughout the Park. Also a number of SCARLET TANAGERS and many BALTIMORE
ORIOLES.

At the Tip, a female CERULEAN WARBLER, a SEDGE WREN, and an offshore
RED-THROATED LOON were reported.

Near the Sparrow Field there were reports of a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO and a
GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER. Also a moulting male SUMMER TANAGER was found just
south of there.

A pair of PROTHONOTARY WARBLERs was found at a potential nest site at the
south end of the Woodland Nature Trail. A PEREGRINE FALCON was noted
perched in a tree in that trail.

A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was reported from the half way tram stop.

In Tilden Woods a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER was noted, as well as CAPE MAY
WARBLER.

A controversy ensued about a thrush sp., located in the Botham Loop behind
the Visitor Centre. Resembling a Hermit Thrush, there was the potential for
Bicknell’s Thrush according to several observers. The controversy
continues.

*A reminder, please, that pishing and use of recordings or other attractant
devices is prohibited in Point Pelee National Park. We would hope that
people follow the birding ethics protocol while patiently waiting for views
of birds.*

Good Birding,
