Greetings Ontbirders,

This morning around 8 a.m. Sarah Petrasek and I found a Piping Plover on Beach 2 at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Sadly it may have already left; it and a few other shorebirds flew north as the fog began to clear around 9 a.m. and may have left the park (but its probably still worth checking for). Among the handful of other shorebirds was a White-rumped Sandpiper which is probably our earliest record.

The Piping Plover was colour banded and appeared to have metal upper right, light blue lower right; orange upper left, nothing lower left.

Cheers,

Doug McRae

Directions: Presqu'ile is on the north shore of Lake Ontario, south of Brighton. It is well signed from Hwy 2 or the 401.
