Point Pelee National Park Migration Update for: Monday, May 21, 2012.

**

On this warm holiday Monday Point Pelee was full of bird song this morning.
A total of 25 warbler species have been reported in the Park as of 12:00
a.m.

The late warbler species continue to show well and be heard from various
locations in the Park, including: Mourning on the Post Woods Trail 1/3 of
the way north from the Tip, and Cerulean on the Post Woods Trail just south
of the Woodland Trail. Canada and Hooded Warblers were seen and heard on
the Shuster and Tilden Trails.

At 11:48 a Prairie Warbler was reported in the Botham Loop Trail, making it
24 species of warbler. Not long after that a KENTUCKY WARBLER was seen at
West Beach, making it 25!

An Eastern Meadowlark was singing in the Tip area of the Park,
approximately half way from the Tram stop to the Tip. An Olive-sided
Flycatcher was in the same tree, but Olive-sided was a common bird today
throughout the Park.

On the shorebird front Ruddy Turnstones were seen on the Northwest Beach.

Today is the last day for guided hikes through the Friends of Point Pelee.
We thank everyone who signed up for our tours throughout the Festival and
hope to see you again next year.

The Nature Nook will be open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For information check
our website: www.friendsofpointpelee.com.

Birders and photographers are reminded that they are NOT to use electronic
playback devices and ‘pishing’ is strongly discouraged to attract birds in
the park. We appreciate your cooperation. If you encounter problems in
this regard, please contact park staff, and wardens will be notified.

Good Birding,

Hike Leaders: Pete, Karl, Todd, Justin, John, Ellen, and Alvan
