Point Pelee National Park Migration Update for: Monday, May 21, 2012. ** On this warm holiday Monday Point Pelee was full of bird song this morning. A total of 25 warbler species have been reported in the Park as of 12:00 a.m. The late warbler species continue to show well and be heard from various locations in the Park, including: Mourning on the Post Woods Trail 1/3 of the way north from the Tip, and Cerulean on the Post Woods Trail just south of the Woodland Trail. Canada and Hooded Warblers were seen and heard on the Shuster and Tilden Trails. At 11:48 a Prairie Warbler was reported in the Botham Loop Trail, making it 24 species of warbler. Not long after that a KENTUCKY WARBLER was seen at West Beach, making it 25! An Eastern Meadowlark was singing in the Tip area of the Park, approximately half way from the Tram stop to the Tip. An Olive-sided Flycatcher was in the same tree, but Olive-sided was a common bird today throughout the Park. On the shorebird front Ruddy Turnstones were seen on the Northwest Beach. Today is the last day for guided hikes through the Friends of Point Pelee. We thank everyone who signed up for our tours throughout the Festival and hope to see you again next year.
