Ontbirders: This morning from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. I watched for Whimbrel from the edge of the Hamilton Study Area at J.C.Saddington Park in MIssissauga. I was delighted to have three, similarly sized flocks of Whimbrel, totaling 199 birds. I also had a flock of 16 Red Knots and two flocks of smaller shorebirds too distant to allow for positive identification. An hour well spent!
As an aside, at Meadow Woods Park, in a group of 32 Canada Geese, I had a Canada with a white collar "1K9F". Cheers Barb Charlton Directions to J.C. Saddington Park: From the QEW, take the Mississauga Rd. exit, turn right onto Mississauga Rd, turn left onto Lakeshore Rd. W., take the 3rd right onto Front St. S., which will take you to the park. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
