This morning at about 730, I observed an unbanded Piping Plover, foraging with
Dunlin, Semi-pal Plovers and Least and Semi-pal Sdpp, on Salmon Island. At
about 805, I also observed three Great Egrets (one appeared to be sitting on a
nest) on Middle Brothers Island, about 3/4s of a km west of Salmon. This was a
new egret nesting colony last year; it's very encouraging to see the site
occupied for a 2nd consecutive year and speaks well for its greater longevity.

Directions: go west on Bath Rd in Kingston, past Elmwood and into Amherstview.
Pull off at 4419 Bath Road. Looking to your left (south), you will see three
islands (East, Middle and West Brothers Islands). Scan Middle Brothers Island
in hopes of getting a glimpse of the egrets. Salmon Island is east of the
Brothers but is not really visible from shore.
