My wife and I birded along the Carp ridge late this morning (9-11am). We were
surprised to hear a COMMON NIGHTHAWK calling near one of the ponds on the
ridge. A rather lengthy trek around the numerous interconnecting ponds led to
actually finding the nighthawk perched in a tree. Spectacular views were had,
and the nighthawk eventually took a brief flight over the area before returning
to the same tree.

Good birding!
Pat

DIRECTIONS: In the west end of Ottawa, follow Dunrobin Road to Thomas Dolan
Parkway, turning left onto the Parkway. Follow the Parkway for about 5½
kilometers; park on the shoulder to access the Ridge.
