The Old Timers Co-operative Big Year Team picked up a free agent, Dan Lee, and followed his bird survey route around Hwys 600, 619 and 617 from Rainy River to Stratton. Marbled Godwit flew between utility poles west of Worthington #3 and Byrnes RD. 2 Connecticut Warblers were heard on 619 about 300M north of Johnson Rd. Further north on 619 was an adult Grey Jay with 2 young. A male Golden-winged Warbler was singing at the corner of 600 and Fred's Rd while 2 Broad-winged Hawks soared overhead. A second Golden-winged Warbler sang on Strachan Rd near the 3rd culvert N of Hwy 600. On 617 at a canal intersection N of Nielson Rd were Black-backed Woodpecker, an Olive-sided Flycatcher atop a dead tree with a Hermit Thrush singing in the background. Nashville Warblers sang everywhere. We finished off on the dock at 419 Oak Grove Rd with a single male Yellow-headed Blackbird in the reeds of Rainy River.
