While doing my BBS route this morning, I observed a red-headed woodpecker. The location is 5082 8th Line, Essa, which is a bit less than 1/2km north of Highway 89. Essa is SW of Barrie and NE of Alliston. The bird was flying from south to north over the fields on the east side of the road. I did not observe it other than flying, so whether it is transient or residing in that area is unclear.
