Hi Folks,
Tonight while checking out the sewage lagoons in White River, Ontario, I had a Least Bittern regularly calling for the entire 45 minutes I was there (7:15pm to 8:00pm). It was situated in the cattail marsh (about 4 acres in size) that is south of the south-west lagoon (you can see it on Google Maps). I did not see the bird but will try again tomorrow. Many ducks in the lagoons...but nothing unusual. Did come across a group of YOY Evening Grosbeak! White River is located 3.75 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie, On. The lagoons are located south-east of the town of White River off of a gravel access trail called Lagoon Rd. that connects up to Hwy 17.
