An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen, from the south bound hwy 416, in a creek
which we believe was Cranberry Creek (between the Roger Stevens Drive and
Dilworth Road exits) on July 4th. It has not been refound. Note that very
little of the creek can be seen at this location and pylons along the shoulder
of the recently paved highway makes stopping at this location unsafe.
The Pontiac Station Quebec CERULEAN WARBLER has not been reported since June
22nd.
A HORNED GREBE found at the Casselman lagoon on July 3rd is a very rare July
sighting in this area.
45 bird species were found during a walk to the extensive mud flats at the
Shirley's Bay causeway on July 3rd including 10+ LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2 LEAST
SANDPIPERS, 5 GREAT EGRETS and what appeared to be 2 young eaglets on the BALD
EAGLE nest in the cottonwood tree across the bay.

Other interesting sightings were;
- the singing MOURNING WARBLER continues at Algonquin Collage
- a PINE SISKIN was heard over the 5 span stone bridge in Pakenham on July 1st
- a NASHVILLE WARBLER was heard singing in Britannia Village July 3rd at Rowatt
Street and Kirby Road, a very unusual non breeding location and habitat for it
to be found at this time of year
- a CASPIAN TERN was seen on the Petrie Island beach on July 3rd
- small numbers of LESSER YELLOWLEGS and LEAST SANDPIPERS have been reported
from the Casselman and Embrun lagoons
- LEAST BITTERNS continue to be heard and occasionally seen in flight at the
Thomas Dolan Constance Creek bridge
- also seen at the above location were; BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, COMMON and
BLACK TERNS and AMERICAN BITTERNS
- COMMON GALLINULE, a singing MARSH WREN and 3 GREAT EGRETS were found at the
Cedarview Road Bruce Pit on July 3rd
- up to 6 UPLAND SANDPIPERS continue to be seen at the NE corner of Dwyer Hill
and Panmure roads
- SEDGE WRENS have been heard singing on Torbolton Road north of the RR tracks
- a VIRGINIA RAIL was heard and LINCOLN SPARROWS were heard (3) and seen (1)
from the Mer Bleue boardwalk on July 2nd
- the Alfred Lagoons are very active with recent reports of 4 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, broods of RUDDY DUCKS and AMERICAN COOTS, and small numbers of
SORA, HOODED MERGANSER and GADWALL
