The south east cell of the St. Albert lagoons continues to host 150 to 250 
shorebirds every day this past week. Aways present are; 
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST, SEMIPALMATED, PECTORAL, STILT, 
WHITE-RUMPED and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, KILLDEER, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and WILSON'S 
SNIPE. On July 31st there was a RUDDY TURNSTONE and from July 30th to August 
1st an adult BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was present. On July 30th in the small middle 
east cell there were 2 SORA, 1 AMERICAN BITTERN, 1 VIRGINIA RAIL and numbers of 
COMMON GALLINULE.
    
 Shirleys Bay continues to be active. Aways present are; LESSER and GREATER 
YELLOWLEGS, LEAST, SEMI-PALMATED and SPOTTED SANDPIPER and small numbers of 
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and STILT SANDPIPER. On July 30th and 31st there were also 
2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, on July 31st there was 1 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER and 
on July 28th a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was reported.
 
The Russell, Embrun and Casselman lagoons had very small numbers of shorebirds 
(other than KILLDEER and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS).
 
Other interesting sightings were;
- NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues in Carleton Place
- a family of 4 RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS is present in Pakenham  
- RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen above and below the Deschenes Rapids
- CAPE MAY WARBLER seen in Britannia woods on July 27th
- 2 GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS and 1 2nd year LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were seen 
at the Deschenes Rapids
