On Tuesday, August 14, we saw one juvenile Red-necked Phalarope at a small marsh on Cement Road in Port Colborne, near Lakeshore Road. Take 406 south to East Main St. in Welland. Turn left and go through the tunnel under the canal. Turn right at next set of lights which is hwy. 140. Follow 140 south to the end, which is hwy.3. in Port Colbourne. Turn right onto hwy 3 and go west through Port Colborne past No Frills and Cement Road will be on your left. Turn left onto this road and follow road until you see a marsh and pond on your right. Pull off here. We also saw other more common birds, such as Wood Ducks, Egrets, and Semi-Palmated Sandpiper. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
