Good evening, folks:

Although overall numbers of shorebirds continue to be greatly reduced at the
Exeter lagoons, the quality continues. In the second cell, in the north east
quadrant, were three juvenile Red-Necked Phalaropes hanging together. Also,
there was an Am Golden Plover as well as a Bairds Sandpiper. The shorebird
area in the second cell has been confined to the southwest quadrant, making
the shorebirds stay nice and close to the edge of the cell. In the first
cell, was a trio of juvenile Green Herons roaming along the shoreline with a
nice little buzz job of natal down still on their heads.

Exeter lagoons are accessible to the public, assuming you are in possession
of a free pass, which can be obtained in person, from the town office. The
lagoons are entered by driving west out of town on 83 highway, and then
south on Airport Line (1st concession west). Turn left (east) on the first
gravel road and park on the shoulder, without blocking the entrance to
either the lagoons or the sheep 'pasture' gate. Walk up the dike road past
the "No Trespassing" sign.
