Subject: Frigatebird sighting
Sighted a Magnificent Frigatebird at Ipperwash beach, Lake Huron, On. Aug. 23. Male. Huge, beautiful to watch as it coasted effortlessly along the shoreline between 5-7 pm. Forked tail, very dark underside. Possibly the same bird sighted at Morpeth in July. Dave Read Ipperwash Beach is public; just off Hwy.21 along the west shore of Lake Huron, 23 kilometers south of Grand Bend, or 7 km. north of Forest, Ont. Travelling south from Grand Bend on 21, go past Ravenswood Road (1km), then turn right onto county road 7, then immediately right again onto West Ipperwash Beach Road. Follow to the lake. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
