Today at Silver Lake in Port Dover there was a sinlge Red-necked
Phalarope, a Baird's Sandpiper, and a long staying Stilt Sandpiper
amongst the more common shorebirds. There are extensive mudflats and
this "lake" has been great for shorebirds all fall and generally been
more productive than the nearby Townsend Sewage Lagoons. Speaking of
the lagoons, the Eared Grebe found yesterday was still present, as
well as two Short-billed Dowitchers.

Directions to Silver Lake: From Hamilton, take HWY 6 into Port Dover.
After the lift bridge turn right onto St. Andrew Street. In a few
blocks turn right onto Chapman St, and then left onto St. Patrick St.
Turn right at the animal hospital and you will see the lake. Park
behind the soccer field and scan the mudflats.

Directions toTownsend Sewage Lagoons: From Simcoe go east on Hwy 3 to
Kieth Richardson Parkway and turn north (towards the Townsend). Take
the first left (west) onto Concession 14 and the lagoons are on the
right, just under a kilometre.
