Myself and Josh Vandermuelen staked out the area this A.M. and I went across to buffalo to get a closer look but I couldn't find either the pelican or any American birders looking for it. It is almost certainly still in eastern Lake Erie so please keep your eyes open! Directions: Waverly Beach in Fort Erie is where we spent time looking from. Take last exit (central ave.) before Peace Bridge. Cheers.
