Today Thursday Morning at 8:45 there were 2 Red-necked Phalaropes and at
least 3 Pectoral Sandpipers at Shirleys Bay in the west end of Ottawa. The
population of peeps and ducks is steadily increasing.


Directions: The Shirley¹s Bay parking lot and boat launch is at the north
end of Rifle Road, which is on the north side of Carling Avenue west of
Moodie Drive. Shirley's Bay causeway is on Department of National Defence
property, and there is often shooting going on at the Connaught Firing
Range. Permission to walk on the causeway must be
obtained for each visit  by contacting the Range Control Office at (613)
991-5740.
