Hello Birders.
For at least eighteen months, an injured SANDHILL
CRANE has been foraging in the Phragmites at the SW. corner of the Reserve.
It has not moulted the primaries on the wing and can not fly so it will have to
be helped if our Winter is harsh.
So for anyone nearby who needs a Sandhill as a 'Lifer' this is an easy one.

If you drive around the Reserve, which is comprised of invariably friendly
people, and miss the bird, tarry a while at 'The Kettles On' and try again.

I have no connection with the resturant.

Yesterday, a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE flew down the Lake past the Crane.

Anyone have an idea as to what should be done about our Crane?

Good birding.
Alf.
