Temp was cooler from 16C to 20C. There were lots of clouds around for the day. Raptor Observations: Total raptors today...88...and with primarily SW winds pushing up the cliff it was no surprise that there were quite a few Osprey today (19) and Kestrels (42) using the dynamic lift to cruise westward with apparent ease. Other species included Sharpies (20), a couple of Merlins and a few more Broadwings (5). Non-raptor Observations: Jim reported espying Blackpoll Warblers...and he got a nice photo of a Scarlet Tanager. Also, for those interested in the smaller flyers...an AMERICAN SNOUT was spotted by Bruce Parker and Erin while attempting to capture Monarchs for tagging. Predictions: Saturday looks too wet for much of a flight...but Sunday and Monday are both looking promising with predicted northerly winds and clearer skies. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
