I arrived home shortly after 3:30pm and noticed a movement of raptors overhead.
So myself, my father-in-law  and my hawkeye daughter, who can apparently
consistently pick out broadwing kettles at several thousand feet with her toy
binocs watched till 5:30. The themals apparently ended around 5:20 and dozens
of Broadwings have decended on my neighbourhood for the evening. Most appeared
to drop in the adjacent Oshawa Creek valley.

Highlights 3:45 to 5:30pm

792 Broad-winged Hawks most appeared to be between 2-5000+ feet up. Largest
kettle was 162 birds
1 Osprey
4 Bald Eagle(1 adult, 3 immatures)
17 Sharp-shinned Hawks
4 Red-tailed Hawks
1 American Kestrel
1 Double-crested Cormorant (rare in North Oshawa)
1 Carolina Wren currently scolding a Broadwing which is perched in a butternut
tree above my feeders.

The flight line these raptors follow through Oshawa runs from Adelaide/Townline
in east Oshawa, passes over Simcoe/Rossland in North Oshawa, Oshawa Airport and
onwards to the general vicinity of lake Iroquois shoreline hawkwatch. The
parking lots in the southend of Oshawa Airport can provide great views of this
flightline. To access this area, take the Stevenson road exit off the 401 and
following it north to where it ends at the airport just north of Rossland Road..
