I kayaked at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area this afternoon and managed to
locate the American Avocet reported yesterday by Andrew Keaveney, same place -
south of the Couture dyke, in the main marsh. Hillman allows hunting Mon, Wed,
Fri & Sat; hiking is possible all day on Tues, Thurs & Sun. Water levels are
low here so there is plenty of good shoreline mudflat available and common
shorebirds are moving through. Chip W - FYI I observed 29 Great Egrets and 44
Great Blue Herons through-out the marsh, none tagged. Four different Osprey as
well. Avocet pic placed on our FB page at Pelee Wings NatureOptics Paddlesports

The 1,000 acre Hillman Marsh CA is on the east side of the Point Pelee
peninsula in the municipality of Leamington approx 6 km north of Point Pelee
National Park.
