Total observation time: 7.5 hours

Observers: Dan Lumm, Jim McCoy, Justin Bosler, Karen Padbury,
                  Rene Kielbasa

Visitors:
The second day of Festival of Hawks brought many visitors to the park and
tower again today. Thanks to all who came out to help us celebrate and
observe this wonderful natural phenomenon of "fall migration". I hope we
won some of you over to join us as regulars on the tower.

Weather:
Bright and sunny blue skies all day. Temps started the day at 17.1C and
ended up at 24.1C. Winds were constantly South today, steady at 6 - 12
kph, gusting up to 19 kph.

Raptor Observations:
A very slow day today for raptor movement due to the southerly winds.
Total birds today didn't even total a busy hour of Sat count. Our species
count for the day was 8, several had only one migrating bird represented.

Our resident Bald Eagles were active today, as was an Osprey that treated
observers to several successful fishing forays throughout the day.

Non-raptor Observations:
Songbirds were present but not large numbers other than the several hundred
Tree Swallows over the marsh all day. A good variety of birds were being
banded, but the stronger southerly winds must have kept them grounded
today.

Predictions:
Sunny, warm day tomorrow with winds out of the south again. Rain is coming
late in the day....look for some bird movement Tuesday once the front moves
through.
