Our wind was light and out of the west and then strengthened and shifted to the southeast. Raptor Observations: We had a nice midday broadwing flight with several large groups streaming past, one of which featured the season's first Swainson's Hawk. When the wind shifted to the southeast in the late afternoon, activity came to a screeching halt. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays (500+) were moving through all day. Predictions: Partly sunny with a chance of rain in the morning and strong south winds all day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
