Visitors:
Quite a few people out to the hawkwatch today...thanks to everyone who
helped out....Jen as counter...and Colin, Derek, Matt, Dave V., Marguarite,
Ronnie, Tom, Wayne, Eric...along with Gord K., Bruce and Monica G.
(Sudbury) and Mike (Oakville)...and a few others whose names weren't noted.

Weather:
The day started cool at 13C and only managed to warm up to 15C. Moderate
NW winds made it feel even cooler and skies were mostly clear with little
cloud cover. Eventually, the winds swung around to the WSW and then SW and
strengthened. Some cloud appeared in the afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
A better flight than expected with a total of 540 birds...mostly Sharpies
(247) and Kestrels (144)....with a small flight of Broadwings
(88)...similar counts for Osprey (6) and Bald Eagle (6)...a nice movement
of N. Harriers (39), a few Cooper's Hawks (3)...and with the winds swinging
SW a number of Merlin (5) and a couple of Peregrines. The 1pm PG came thru
at the lake (un-seen at the mound) and the 4pm one to the right of the
mound. And then 2 Merlin came after the last peregrine...very cool!

Non-raptor Observations:
Red Bellied Woodpecker, C. Waxwings, Black-throated Green Warbler, Red
Breasted Nuthatches, Pileated Woodpecker, Indigo Buntings, Common Loons,
Blue Gray Gnatcatchers (over the mound), Nashville Warbler, Magnolia
Warbler, Black & White Warbler, Towhee was heard, Chimney Swifts, RT
Hummingbirds, Chestnut Sided Warbler, House Wren, Blue Jays (lots and
lots)
