An adult female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, first for the OFNC area, was seen briefly
on September 18 but unfortunately was not subsequently found.
Songbirds and small numbers of shorebirds continue to move through the
Ottawa/Gatineau area.

- Tunney's Pasture woodlot had fewer warblers and vireos this week. On the
17th; ORANGE-CROWNED (1), YELLOW-RUMPED, MAGNOLIA, BLACK-THROATED GREEN and
BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, SWAINSON'S and GRAY-CHEEKED (1) THRUSHES and
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS
- Britannia Conservation Area and Shirleys Bay were active all week. 19 Warbler
species including BLACK-THROATED BLUE and ORANGE-CROWNED, 4 Vireo species, both
Kinglets, SWAINSON's and GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES, WINTER WRENS, RUSTY BLACKBIRDS
and up to 25 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen this week. The CAROLINA WREN continues
north of Cassels Street usually near the fence at the west end of the ridge and
a probable second bird was heard deep in the Britannia woods.

Small numbers of shorebirds were seen this week.
- the Shirleys Bay mud flats, although slower this week, continue to be the
most reliable place in the area to find shorebirds. Of interest this week were;
BAIRD'S, WHITE-RUMPED and PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and on
several occasions single DUNLIN and RUDDY TURNSTONE. Also seen were BALD
EAGLE,, PEREGRINE FALCON and AMERICAN BITTERN (1) - Andrew Haydon Park and the
mud flats east to Lakeside Gardens; RUDDY TURNSTONE (1) and at the mouth of the
creek at Ottawa Beach FIELD, SAVANNAH, LINCOLN'S, SONG and MARSH SPARROWS
- Winchester lagoons on September 15; early CACKLING (6) and SNOW (2) GEESE,
CANVASBACK (2), LESSER YELLOWLEGS (5) and PECTORAL SANDPIPER (2)

Other interesting sighting were;
- RED CROSSBILL (2) over Stoney Swamp
