Visitors:
Thanks to today's counter Jen L.... with great help from Derek, Ernie,
Keith, Rose Braxton, Mary and Jim Dunn.  Dave Verkley stopped by with his
relatives from the Netherlands... also Mark and his uncle from Vancouver
plus others.


Weather:
Another unsettled day weather wise...winds were moderate to strong from the
NW for the first couple of hours...then swung to the SW and SSW for the
rest of the day. Lots of cloud around for the day and temp to a high of
19C.

Raptor Observations:
Not a bad flight at all today with a total of 425 raptors....including a
great flight of Sharpies (290) and Kestrels (80)...a decent movement of N.
Harriers (32)...and on the SW winds Osprey (6), Merlin (6) and More
Peregrines (8)...and a few Cooper's Hawks (3).



Our first peregrine was flushed from it's roost in the gap by a harrier -
very good early birds!  And the last 2 peregrines gave great views hovering
over the counters on the mound!

Non-raptor Observations:
Warblers today included Blackpoll, Nashville, Black & White, Cape May
(right above the observers), Blackburnian, Chesnut-sided, Redstart,
Bay-breasted, Black-throated Green, Wilson's and Magnolia. Also Indigo
Buntings, Common Loons, RT Hummingbirds, Blue Jays (approx 4500 between 7am
to 11am!), Am. Robins, DC Cormorants, Song sparrow (several young ones just
learning their songs), Cardinals, Red-breasted Nuthatch, 

Olive-sided Flycatcher, Tree Swallows,                  

Kingfisher, Killdeer, Towhees,  

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker                

White-throated Sparrows, Red-eyed Vireo, Swainson's Thrush                      
                                                        

Other non-birds seen:   

Firery Skipper, Buckeyes, Lance tipped darner Black Saddlebags, Painted
lady butterflies, Cabbage White, Green darners
