Hi all,

This morning I located a Boreal Chickadee at the trail into the Fingers at Presqu'ile. This is the old road that goes east from the main road, about 50m N of the Beach 2 road. Walk in on the road over the dunes until you come to the main Fingers forest and the bird was occasional vocalizing and moving around in this area. It was in the area for at least 45 minutes before I left.

Also of note were 5 Ravens that flew in from High Bluff island, all 3 scoters, at least 2 Rt Loon, a single Brant, and a group of at least 10 Cardinals moving N in the phragmites belt, all seen from the first lookout (northern most) on the Owen Pt. Trail. The Brant was near the rock shoal north of Gull is., the waterbirds were just out front. Also big flocks of Rb Mergansers starting to form offshore with at least a few thousand today.

At Gosport, the Glossy Ibis and the Hudsonian Godwit are still on the mudflats, along with 5 Greater, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs and 2 Killdeer. I saw one birder/photographer standing on the Presqu'ile Yacht Club dock - please remember that this is private property and unless invited in, birders should not go there. You can see the godwit and ibis well enough from the east end of Price Street.

Cheers,

Doug McRae

Turn left on to Price Street (at ball diamond) and follow to the very end. Walk east along the mowed path and stand on the tip of land and look north.
