Just after 2 PM this afernoon, the banding crew had an immature RED-HEADED
WOODPECKER at the side of the main road about 0.5 km north of the
lighthouse on the west side of the road. Also along the main road were
several RED-TAILS, NORTHERN HARRIERS and a single male AMERICAN KESTREL
seemingly grounded by the storm front moving in. The various cells were
host to large rafts of mostly GREATER SCAUP and REDHEAD that may warrant a
closer scope look, and hundreds of LONG-TAILED DUCKS can now be seen and
heard on much of the open water of the lake.

Today also saw the third NORTHERN SHRIKE banded at the station on Peninsula
D in the last 3 days, an unprecedented record for TTPBRS - one per day, and
all have been immatures.

The sandbar north of Embayment D, which briefly hosted 3 BRANT yesterday,
had one adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL loafing with the regulars, but no
shorebirds.

The park is at the base of Leslie St. and is open to the public on weekends
and holidays.

Good birding,
Amanda Guercio
