Weather: Drizzled rain all day; winds out of the north-west/north all day in the 35 km/hr range with gusts up to 55 km/hr; temperature ranged from 5C to 8.5C. Raptor Observations: Despite the heavy wind and constant drizzle raptors were actually flying. Had 125 birds of 7 species. Due to the high winds the Essex Region Conservation Authority requested that HBMO close the hawk tower. The hawk count was moved to HBMO's Lake Station approximately 1 km east of the hawk tower at: 42º2'37" N 82º58'4" W. Non-raptor Observations: Had 1 bird each of Common Loon, Wilson's Snipe, Northern Flicker, Blue Jay, and American Crow. Also 4 Tundra Swan and 6 American Robin. Predictions: Similar to today with a 90% chance of light rain in the morning and 70% in the afternoon. The temperature is predicted at 5C - 8C; and winds are forecasted at 40 - 50 km/hr out of the north. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Todd Pepper ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
