I birded the Oshawa Harbour/Bonnie Brae Point area today with several other
birders looking for storm blown birds.

Highlights:

A medium sized alcid flew past well offshore about 9:30. I was not able to
positively identify it but it was consistent with the size of a Razorbill.
Black above and white below. No other field marks could be seen due to the
distance. The only other observation I can offer is the flight style - fast
and direct, low to the water, but every now and then it would glide, bank
upwards and then glide back near the lake surface and then fly fast gain.
Moving westward.

RT Loon 1
Short-eared Owl - 1 over the lake
WW and Surf Scoters
30+ WW Crossbills

on the way home, I saw a juvenile Golden Eagle north of Hwy 7 and about 12 WW
Scoters flying south along Lakeridge

Oshawa Harbour is at the foot of Simcoe St in Oshawa. Bonnie Brae is the park
immediately west of the harbour.
