Yesterday afternoon Rory MacKay and I birded the east and south end of Wolfe
and Simcoe islands hoping that there might be some fallout birds in the east
end of Lake Ontario. However, as suspected the rarities seem to be all
concentrated in the west end of the lake. However there 19 Black-bellied
Plovers, 2 American Golden Plovers, 12 Greater Yellowlegs, a Killdeer, and a
Dunlin on the north shore of Wolfe Island, a flock of 600 Brant off the east
end of Simcoe Island, and a juvenile Little Gull seen from the ferry on the
way to Wolfe Island.

I am off to Amherst Island this morning with the hopes that some of the
birds seen yesterday fly east with the change in the wind. Good luck to all
of you birding the western end of Lake Ontario. Perhaps the birders at Van
Wagner¹s beach can send some of those amazing birds our way.

The Wolfe Island ferry, which leaves from the east end of Kingston, is free
while there is a $5 charge for the Simcoe ferry.

Good birding!
