Hi. Not much going on at Andrew Haydon Park this morning. There were 3 Scaup in the western most pond earlier.
One Brant feeding on the grass near the western most pond. If you see it in the pond, more than likely someone had just walked by with their dog. The Brant is back up on the grass in no time. Often brant geese here are seen in flocks flying through or on the river but when they are on their own or in pairs is a great opportunity to observe them up close and usually are much less skittish too. Although I did not see it myself, another young birder indicated he had spotted a small group of Snow Bumtings ( dozen or so) near the boat launch area at Shirley's Bay end of Rifle Road. There is someone there today at the boat launch from Nature Canada offering information about the area which is designated as an Important Bird Area (all part of Lac Deschenes IBA). Thanks. W.
