Hi All I was doing the official hawk count at Holiday Beach today and at 2:45 pm, I noticed a group of swallows approaching the tower. To our excitement, they were Cave Swallows.
They continued over the tower, heading west along the marsh towards the Detroit River. Also of note today, the grey-phase Gyrfalcon that has been hanging around the area was seen again this morning. The bird was seen around 8:30 am, flying along the shoreline. This seems to be the place the bird is most often viewed, so if you are planning on taking a look for it, walking the beach is a good place to start. Good birding everyone! Sarah Leamington, ON The conservation area is located on County Rd 50, just south of the intersection with County Road 20 in the southwest corner of Essex County. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
