There were two record (documented by the OFNC) late sightings this past week. 
An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was heard and seen flying over the ponds on Giroux Rd 
on the 13th and a RUDDY TURNSTONE was seen at the Russell lagoon on the 14th.
 
PINE GROSBEAK (single birds and small flocks), COMMON REDPOLL (flocks up to 20) 
and BOHEMIAN WAXWING (flocks up to 150 at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden) were 
seen throughout our area this past week. Smaller numbers of EVENING GROSBEAK 
(single birds) and RED CROSSBILL (single birds heard and a flock of 7 from the 
Mer Bleue Bog boardwalk) have been reported. 
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER (male and female) continue to be seen near the Stony 
Swamp Trail. 
NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen at a number of locations.

A record number of SANDHILL CRANE (177) were seen from Milton Road on the 9th.
 
Winchester lagoons on the 11th; SNOW (4000) and CANADA (1000) GOOSE, RUDDY DUCK 
(3), LESSER SCAUP (2) and BONAPARTE'S GULL (2)
 
>From the Shirleys Bay dike on the 11th; RING-NECKED DUCK (200+), COMMON 
>GOLDENEYE (100), BUFFLEHEAD (30), COMMON (10) and HOODED (10) MERGANSER, 
>NORTHERN SHOVELER (2) and COMMON LOON (1)
 
Other interesting sighting were;
- RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was seen at a feeder on Klondike Road west on the 10th 
and 13th
- BRANT (1) on the Andrew Haydon grass on the 8th 
- GOLDEN EAGLE (1 adult) over Riddell Rd on the 10th
- COMMON GRACKLE (1) on the Jack Pine Trail on the 10th
- SNOW GOOSE (6) and ROSS'S GOOSE (1) at the Moodie Dr pond on the 12th
- GREATER WHITE-FRONTED (1) and CACKLING (1) GEESE and GREATER YELLOWLEGS (1) 
at the Giroux pit on the 12th
- FOX SPARROW (1) at a Carleton Place feeder on the 15th
