Hi all,

Today, from approximately 4:10 - 4:20 PM, I observed 5 species of gull at
the Trail Rd. landfill site:

RING-BILLED GULL
HERRING GULL
KUMLIEN'S GULL (single bird, 1st winter)
GLAUCOUS GULL (single bird, 1st winter)
GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL

A quick drive (4:25-4:35 PM) around the adjacent roads around the Trail Rd.
area produced:

4 RED-TAILED HAWK
1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK

Other birds of note:

HOARY REDPOLL (exilipes): 1 amidst flock of 20 Common Redpolls at my
backyard feeder in Barrhaven (south Ottawa)

COMMON REDPOLL: flock of 20-25 fly-over along Moodie Dr @ Trail Rd

BOHEMIAN WAXWING: flock of 15-20 fly-over along Mckenna Casey Dr

*Independent Directions to this Site:* (as per those given on neilyworld.com)
>From Highway 416 take exit 66 (Fallowfield Road). If southbound, a 0.4 km
offramp dumps onto Fallowfield, where you will turn right or west. If
northbound, the 0.4 km offramp brings you to Fallowfield, where you will
turn left or west onto it and in 0.5 km join the southbound offramp
traffic. Both groups will now follow Fallowfield Road west for an
additional 0.4 km to reach Moodie Drive. Turn left or southeast onto Moodie
Drive and go 5.3 km, passing Cambrian Road to reach the quarries (second
gate on the left). Park along the side of the road without blocking the
access.

Cheers,
Jon Ruddy
