Today was the 61st unofficial or 50th official Christmas Bird Count for the South Peel Naturalists' Club of Mississauga and Oakville also know Bird Studies Canada Christmas Bird Count ONPH. I won't have complete results for a couple of days but with two-thirds of the routes reporting it is apparent that overall numbers were low but some 'seasonally' good birds were found.

Including Red-throated Loon, Harlequin Duck, House Wren, Common Yellowthroat, Cape May Warbler, Nashville Warbler and Orange-crowned Warbler as well as Ruby-crowned Kinglet. An Eastern Towhee photographer earlier was not relocated. Yellow-rumped Warbler and Hermit Thrush were also found.

Directions
House Wren in Mississauga south the QEW on Mississauga Road to Indian Road west to a Church on the northside beside a hydro towers that cross Indian Road. The bird was seen "behind the church along the power line" by a very experienced observer.

Common Yellowthroat in Erindale Park (Mississauga on Dundas Street west of Mississauga) along the main trail on the east side of the Credit River about 1 km north of Dundas in a patch of goldenrod (coords 43.553906,-79.661077 - try coords in Google)

Snow Goose - adult at stormwater collection ponds on east side of 6th Line north of Upper Middle Road in Oakville.

Eastern Towhee was photographed earlier in week but NOT today may relocated in the Rhododendron Park vicinity (three lights west of Mississauga Road on Lakeshore Road)

Red-throated Loon was in flight at mouth of Credit River in late afternoon.

The Cape May, Nashville, Orange-crowned and Yellow-rumped Warblers along with a Hermit Thrush and Ruby-crowned Kinglets were all seen in the previously reported Sedgewick Park in Oakville. Better directions probably elsewhere but from QEW south on Third Line past Rebecca Street to lights at Hixon Road. Left to end of road. Walk through woods to water treatment plant. Most of activity is off east fence of treatment plant along drainage ditch.

I am doing Toronto Count tomorrow so may not answer questions immediately.
