The 32nd Kleinburg Christmas Count was held on December 16th under less than
ideal conditions with widespread rain and fog throughout the day. Nineteen
participants found 53 species (slightly below the count average of 56) and
approximately 10,000 individuals (below the average of 12000). Two new species
were discovered,  Townsend's Solitaire in Caledon East and Cackling Goose at
Heart Lake, bringing the total species count to 115. Notable misses included
Cooper's Hawk, Ruffed Grouse, Horned Lark and Snow Bunting.

There were extremely low numbers of American Crows (<70) and American Robins
(1) observed but high numbers were recorded for Hooded Merganser (16) and
Bohemian Waxwing (126). Other good birds included Bufflehead (Heart Lake),
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (Claireville) and Barred Owl (Heart Lake).

Thanks to all of the participants,
