Good evening, Today (December 17/12) at 1230 hrs I managed to refind one of the Nashville Warblers originally discovered Dec. 16 during the Toronto CBC. I also had an Orange-crowned Warbler in the same area on Dec. 15 but haven't been able to refind it the last two days. Directions: The location is fairly obscure and unlikely to have been visited for birding by any but the most hardcore urban/industrial birders. While the Recreation Trail is designed for public access most of the rest of the area isn't. The closest address is 586 Lakeshore Blvd. E. in Toronto. If coming by car the best description I can offer is this. Find the intersection of Don Roadway & Lakeshore Blvd. E. (if you are going south on Don Valley Parkway take the Lakeshore exit and you will be on Don Roadway). From the intersection drive east on Lakeshore for approx. 100 metres to the first, unsigned approach on your right. When you pull in you will see a hand-painted sign with the number '586' on it. I think this is the Shield Oil Tank Removal Company but that is not stated anywhere you can see from here. Immediately turn left and park under the ramp from Don Valley Parkway to Gardiner Expressway. PLEASE NOTE that I am unsure of the legality or safety of parking in this area. (Closest legal parking is probably on Villiers Avenue.) There is a gravel roadway with train tracks beside it running north. Walk north on roadway approx. 50 metres until there is a paved path crossing the roadway. This is the Lower Don Recreational Trail. Proceed east less than 50 metres and there will be a clearing on the north side of the Trail. The bird was seen on the edges of this clearing. If coming by bicycle this area of the Lower Don Recreational Trail is also called Bicycle Route 4 West. From Lakeshore and Don Roadway take Route 4 West which will cross the Don River. You will shortly come to a split in the trail where you can proceed north along the west side of the Don River or head west toward downtown. Go west and you are only 30 metres from the clearing where the bird was seen.
