A Red-bellied Woodpecker was frequenting the feeder just down the road from the
Hwy 50 entrance. Directions: Take Hwy 50 to just north of Steeles Ave., turn
left into the conservation area parking lot. Feeders are just down the road.
Side note: about 30-31 years ago, I carved my name into a beech tree here.
Today, on my first visit back in about 30 years, my Dad and I found the actual
tree with my name on it. The tree is now dead, but my name is still legible. I
remember my companion at the time disapproving but, given the kick my Dad and I
got out of finding the tree, I don't regret it!
